There are a number of opportunities to volunteer at St. Ambrose. If you're interested in helping out with anything below please contact Kathy Schealler, the parish business manager at 288-7411 x201.
 

Worship

Liturgy Committee- Lector- Minister of Hospitality- Usher- Art/Environment

Office Help

Greet Visitors/Answer Phones Mon-Sat, 9a.m.-noon or noon-3pm- Count Sunday collection- Help with bulk mailings

St. Vincent De Paul Society- Social Concerns Committee

Connection Café

Connection Café is a lunch program served to the less fortunate of Des Moines Downtown.  St. Ambrose volunteers to serve a meal on the first Tuesday of each month.  Volunteers can help by donating food, preparing and/or serving the meal.

Family Life

Marriage Sponsor Couple- Marriage Preparation

Pastoral Care to Sick/ Ministry to the Homebound

Prayer chain participant- Eucharist to homebound- Eucharist to nursing homes- Transportation for sick/elderly on Sundays- Transportation for sick/elderly during the week- St. Ambrose Cares-Visit homebound (non Eucharistic Minister)

Parish Relations Committee

Help with Funeral Luncheons- Cook/Donate Food for Parish Functions- Serve at Parish Functions- Parish Picnic Committee

Maintenance

Plumbing- Carpentry/Roofing/etc.- Electricity- Vacuuming the Church- Painting- General Maintenance- Grounds keeping/Landscaping- Other

Refugee Ministry

Volunteers may sponsor a Family, assist with moving families, provide transportation, and other miscellaneous help is needed.  Monetary donations are also always needed, and should be made out to St. Ambrose Cathedral Refugee Ministry.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Assist the RCIA coordinato, as needed, by sponsoring a Catechumen or Candidate and/or by committing to being a Prayer Partner for a Catechumen or Candidate.

Religious Education/ Faith Formation

Become a catechist for Preschool, Grades 1-6, Grades 7-8 Sacramental Preparation.  Substitute Catechists are also needed.  Other opportunities are: High School Youth Minister, R.E. Music Ministry/Songleader and/or Instrumentalist, Bus Driver/Help with Transportation, Assist the Director of Religious Education (as needed).
